We use thick canvas woven on the west bank of Lake Biwa. A large amount of wax is permeated and fixed into the gaps of the fabric, which is woven slightly loosely using high-strength threads.
Afterward, in Kojima, Okayama Prefecture, the home of denim processing, the fabric undergoes bio-washing (tumbling in a drum containing microorganisms that favor cotton, which creates undulations, a silky texture, and adds strength by shrinking 10%). This process makes the material resistant to losing its shape and less prone to getting dirty even after years of use.
The thick oil leather, which is a match for the strong presence of the fabric, will show beautiful aging over time and is a design that can be cherished for a long time.
The use of leather for the handles and sides is a testament to the designer's attention to detail.
《Mission as a Functional Material》
As it is waterproof canvas, even if it gets dirty with muddy water, the dirt can be almost entirely removed by tapping or brushing it after it dries.
Furthermore, it is a functional canvas that prevents water intrusion by allowing the threads to absorb and expand when wet, and allows air to pass through when dry. Historically, it was used as tarpaulins for trucks carrying fruits and vegetables.
