Indigo from the Awa region is considered high-quality Awa indigo among indigo dyes and is highly valued for its nobility, earning it the name "Sho-ai." It is known worldwide as "JAPAN BLUE."
Dyeing is performed by immersing the material in dye made from fermented indigo, which is the raw material.
Since it cannot be dyed in a single pass, the process of dyeing and drying is repeated many times, creating a deep color unique to natural indigo that is very appealing. The color also changes to a deeper shade with a beautiful luster over time.
The snakeskin is from a Diamond Python, also known by its Japanese name Amime Nishikihebi (Reticulated Python), which is considered the world's longest reptile, with some growing up to 10 meters.
It came to be called the Diamond Python because of the diamond-shaped patterns all over its body.
Also, the scales of snake skin are integrated with the skin and do not peel off like fish scales, and standing scales will settle down with age.
