We use "Pueblo leather," meticulously crafted using the traditional Vacchetta method by the world-renowned tannery "Badalassi Carlo" based in Tuscany, Italy, selecting the shoulder parts of female cows over two years old.
The Vacchetta method is a traditional Italian technique boasting over 1000 years of history. It involves slowly adding highly pure neat's foot oil to cowhide that has been thoroughly tanned with vegetable tannins, without using any chemicals. This time-consuming and labor-intensive process imbues the leather with a moist texture and profound character.
Furthermore, a unique brushing process using sandpaper and a brass brush is applied to the surface of the oil-rich leather, giving it a smooth, matte texture initially. With use, the color deepens, transforming into a beautiful, lustrous sheen.
Oleic acid, the main component of neat's foot oil that permeates the entire leather, is a natural moisturizing agent also abundant in human sebum. It naturally blends into the leather, protecting it from drying out and excessive moisture loss, thus maintaining its softness and suppleness indefinitely.
