《Harmony of Fabric Presence, Douman, and Oil Leather》
We use thick canvas woven on the western shore of Lake Biwa. A large amount of wax is infused and set into the gaps of the slightly loosely woven fabric made with strong threads.
Afterward, the material undergoes bio-washing (tumbling in a drum containing cotton-loving microorganisms to create ripples and a silky texture, and adding strength by shrinking 10%) in Kojima, Okayama Prefecture, a renowned center for denim processing. This process makes it resistant to losing its shape and accumulating dirt even after many years of use.
The thick oil leather, which is a match for the strong presence of the fabric, will show beautiful aging over time, making it a design that can be cherished for a long time.
The leather details on the handles and sides are a testament to the designer's attention to detail.
《Mission as a Functional Material》
As it is waterproof canvas, even if it gets stained with muddy water, the dirt can almost entirely be removed by patting or brushing after it dries.
Furthermore, when wet, the threads absorb water and expand, preventing water from entering. When dry, it allows air to pass through, making it a functional canvas. Historically, it was used as tarps for trucks transporting fruits and vegetables.
Due to its high functionality and strength, it is a rare and valuable material. However, we have created original colors, and it has become a signature material for Seagull Ship.
